eeniemeenie Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 i thought i kniew what i was doing...but i guess not. i tried booking a hotel in FLL for night of december 11 2004 pre cruise. i ca't seem to find out which hotels are listed for which star category. i was hoping for marriott marina and have bid up to $105.00. put in fort lauderdale beach area and checked resort star rating. after i was rejected i put in other ares that i saw did not have resort listings but still remain rejected. i am now up to $105.00 and have included all other arees without resort status and am still rejected. i am not sure if 4 star or 3 star will get me there, so i stick with checking resort box. any suggestions? i see people get this accommodation for leds than i am bidding...how do they do it?
thereuare Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! Here is the PRICELINE HOTEL LIST and the HOTWIRE HOTEL LIST. (don't use these lists to determine re-bid zones!!! the proper way to figure out re-bid zones is in the re-bidding explained thread... any questions, or to confirm your re-bid zones, please ask)If you'd like a bidding strategy let us know what star level you are interested in and we'll provide a recommendation. eeniemeenie Posted November 5, 2004 Author Report Posted November 5, 2004 would definately like a bidding strategy. want the marriott harbor beach resort. help!
thereuare Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 The MARRIOTT website shows this property at $239/nite. There may or may not be inventory offered to Priceline, what is the most you are willing to spend on a Resort property in this zone (keeping in mind you could get another resort class property besides the marriott)? You do understand that there is a difference between the Marriott Harbor Beach (which you mention above) and the Marriott Marina (which you mention in your first post)? Most pre-cruisers stay at the Marriott Marina property. The Hyatt Pier 66 is another popular option. eeniemeenie Posted November 5, 2004 Author Report Posted November 5, 2004 o.k., i think i may mean marriott marina. i stayed last time at the hyatt pier 66 and it was nice because we had a tower room, i am told however that when you book through priceline you are not put in the tower rooms. if this is so, i would prefer the marriott. i noticed the marriott marina is very close to the pier. i am not sure i know where the marriott harbor beach is in relation to the pier. if i want to go with the marriott marina what would yu suggest as a bidding strategy?
thereuare Posted November 5, 2004 Report Posted November 5, 2004 Rates for your dates are less than we have seen recently, so i would use one bidding cycle to try a little less than expected, then if rejected use the next bidding cycle with a more realistic bid.You have one re-bid zone available when bidding 3* in the Downtown area (if you're not 100% certain of which one it is, post to the board and we'll confirm it for you).I would:Select 3* Downtown and...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $60.If the above is rejected, wait 72 hours and:Select 3* Downtown and...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $80.Any questions feel free to ask.Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
