svemuri Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Visiting NYC with family (2 kids) 8/4 - 8/8 and I am trying to look for a decent hotel on hotwire. Only 4 came up. Any suggestions? I am not familier with many hotels in QuickBook. Any help appreciated.SV.
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Welcome to the site. What would be your budget per night for hotel? What are the areas of NYC you would be interested in staying in?
svemuri Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 Thank you.Budget is between $150-$200. Want to stay in/near Manhattan and should be near subway, but flexible. Any help is much appreciated.
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 A 1BR suite at the well-reviewed Beekman Tower is $181 on Expedia, but coupon code 10JUL takes $10 off per night. You also get a $50 pre-paid gas card (see site for details) if you book before 7/31.This hotel would be a bit out of the way in MTE, but it does get very good reviews and you would get both more space and a kitchen. Please use the site's Expedia.com link if this idea is of interest.
thereuare Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Part of the issue is likely that you are looking for quad occupancy in Manhattan which can severly limit your options. The Beekman above is a good deal for the price, especially when including the gas card, but this property has also lost some of its appeal since Affinia sold it, as the reviews went from almost all favorable to 'hit or miss'. One advantage of this property when traveling with children (not sure the age of your kids) is that you get a full (well, by NYC standards :) ) kitchen wtih refrigerator, which can come in handy with keeping soda, milk, drinks, snacks, etc for the kids.HOTWIRE presents another option when searching your dates for 2adults/2children, a 3* hotel in the Chelsea-MSG zone for $169/nite with: Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business and a TA rating of 4.0/5.0 with 80+ reviews. This is a match for the Holiday Inn Sixth Avenue which gets very good reviews and would be better location-wise, imo.Do either of these work for you? svemuri Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 Thanks for your reply. the $169 is no longer available and all other Manhattan choices are expensive or bad. We say a $116 Jercy City waterfront 4* and figured it was Westin (using your site). I just booked it and it confirmed that it is Westin. Thanks for the great site and your help. FYI I did use HOTWIRE link you provided.ThanksSV
