kellycincy Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I'm planning a drip to Chicago 8/15 to 8/17. Will need 2 rooms for 4 adults and 1 child. I'd like to spend less than 100 per room. We're planning to go to the Shedd, the Harry Potter exhibit, check out Navy Pier and take one of the architecture tours. Any tips for locations/strategy? I dig the boutique hotels more than the huge chains, but price and location are the overall requirements for this trip. Thanks for any help!
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Welcome to the site.Just my 2 cents: Navy Pier is a tourist trap (it's even listed as such when you look up "tourist trap" on Wikipedia), and seeing another museum (the Art Institute is wonderful) or seeing the Lincoln Park Zoo (which is a great Zoo and free) would be a better use of that time. Again, just my thoughts on NP.Do you need 2 beds per room? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase when you are ready to book.
kellycincy Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 We can get away w/ 1 bed per room.
thereuare Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I'm guessing that either the NMA-River North or Loop zones would work well for your plans... the NMA-River North zone has more nightlife, restaurant, bars, etc whereas the Loop zone is home to the Aquarium, Museums, etc and gets quiet at nite after business hours; however, the two zones are adjacent to each other and you could walk from one to the other (or take an inexpensive taxi ride or hop on the bus up/down Michigan Avenue)The Loop zone is usually a little cheaper than the Loop zone, but i don't see your budget being much of an issue at the moment for these dates.Let us konw which zone(s) you're willing to bid, and what star level you'd like (i do think you coudl get a 4* hotel, but not sure if you're looking to save money and try for a lower rated hotel) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kellycincy Posted July 29, 2009 Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 I'm willing to bid either zone you mentioned. I would like to stick with a 4*. Thank you so much for your time and suggestions.
thereuare Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 To confirm, you're "ok" with using PRICELINE, which only guarnatees double occupancy, even though you'll actually be triple occupancy in one of the rooms? If so...At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* NMA and Loop...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* NMA and Loop and re-bid zone4...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $90Any questions freel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us konw how it goes.
