ncasanova Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I started wanting the Royalton after seeing what people got it for $118-129. Added numerous other areas- went up to $140. then decided I'd be happy with 3.5* in CPS, kept adding areas and $$ till $140. I'm allowed to bid again today and started and keep getting rejected. Is this time like what I'm seeing for end of Sept? people paying well over $200. I have a hook up at the W lexington for $90 but only for sunday night. wanted to make life easy if I could get something less than $140 (ideally less) and be in the same place for two nights.Strategy? I've given up on the royalton- guessing it's beyond my price range closer to $200. should I try for one night (sat. harder yes) near the W? should I get the dream on kayak for $145- looks super nice. should I lower my * to 3 or 3.5 in another area for less $$ amd just be psyched to be in the city since I'll never be in the hotel?BTW- much appreciation to the facilitators and members of this site... pretty incredible. I'm a newbie and am determined to figure this out for future travel... want to make priceline work for me in the future. have heard so many great things.thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Did you only bid the MTW zone at the 4* level up to $140 and then only 3.5* up to $140? Are these the only two zones acceptable?I do think you have a good chance at success at levels that you have already bid if you include other zones with 4* hotels; the question is whether you try for both nites at $140 or less OR if you want to just try for the Saturday nite and then go with your connection at the W for the cheaper Sunday nite.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ncasanova Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 thanks for getting back. I did everything- even made my spreadsheet so I knew what zones I was booking. It just didn't want to work. i tried every variation 4s- went through most of the areas and bid up. tried 3.5 in CPS first and moved up too. tried it all... guess it was just an expensive weekend.$146 for the club quarters rockefeller center.don't want to give up on PRICELINE...
