TadeoTay Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Anyone out there want to help me out?Wanting to be in the Broadway area and consider this Times Square area to be good. Have seen some good rates for the Crowne Plaza but I am unlucky so far.Dates - Aug 26-28Bid History (4 star):TS-Theatre Dist - $110+ Upper East Side - $115+ Central Park South - $125+ Chelsea - $130Thanks for any help!
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Are you willing to consider any of the areas nearby (MTE, MTW or CPS) in order to give yourself more options/greater chance of success? What would be your max budget? HOTWIRE has a 4* in Midtown Central for $149; if you continue bidding higher and are still not accepted, that would be another option. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
TadeoTay Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 Maybe I would consider the South Central Park area but I don't want to get too far from walking distance to Broadway.Times Square is looking really high then for these dates?Max budget maybe is around 200 (with tax of course).thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 If you are willing to consider MTW (which is right next to the TS area), I'd start at $120 for a 4* in that area.In terms of TS and CPS, I'd try again for a 4* at $135. Given that prices are not that bad (well for NYC) and you have time, I wouldn't go too high too quickly. Also, HOTWIRE has a 4* in MTC for $149 and a 4* in TS for $159, so there are certainly options within your price range if PRICELINE remains uncooperative. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links, and let us know if you have further questions.
thereuare Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Do you know exactly where in the Theatre District you need to be? How far do you consider a 'reasonable' walk?If CPS is considered 'close enough' then MTW would most certainly be considered close enough as well, since all of the MTW is zone is closer than the most eastern border of the CPS zone.If all the zones above (TS, MTW, CPS) are you willing to pay more to be in a particular zone or is the least expensive 4* hotel in any of these zones your objective?Le tus know your thoughts regarding the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. TadeoTay Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 I am looking to be close to Gershwin Theatre mainly and just overall well located in the city (which I guess they all are in this area). So, no, I am not exclusive to Times Square area only. It looks like Central Park South, MTW, and even MTE look fine for me.I just re-tried. 1st bid - $125 - Times Square2nd - $130 + CPS3rd - $125 + Upper WestSide4th - $120 MTEThanks
TadeoTay Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 Just added, for curiosity, the MTW area and just won... The Sheraton for $115 per night for these dates.I see this is similar to other winning bids.It gets mixed reviews but we will be out of the room most of the day anyways. Thanks for the great site!
AaronJB Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you got a great deal on this property. While some of the reviews on tripadvisor are mixed, some users here have reported enjoyable experiences - it would seem to be a matter of price/expectations, as while the property may disappoint at full price, those who have been paying $100-125 seem a bit more pleased. Also, great location if you're not going to be in the room all that much.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
