cw99 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Looking to spend 150 or less per night on Oct 31-Nov 2...would love to stay around times square or anywhere near that area. Never been to NYC. saw someone winning a bid for crown plaza during this time but i had no luck when i tried to bid. any suggestions??? thanks so much!!
thereuare Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Historically speaking this has been a very tough, and expensive, weekend in NYC and many hotels typically sell-out on their own. Given the current economic conditions it's tough to say if this will hold true this year, but at the moment i'm sure hotels are hoping to sell rooms on their own at 'full' rate... or at least not have to discount too deeply thru third party suppliers. How high have you already bid, up to $150? Which zone(s) did you include? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Based on the rates that I'm seeing on HOTWIRE (as well as regular rates for 4*'s, which all appear to be $300+) and the fact that this is the Marathon weekend, unfortunately, I think a more realistic price range for a 4* on PRICELINE for these dates will probably be in the $175-200 range.

thereuare Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 I don't think you're going to see much, if any, discount in bidding for 3.5* vs. 4*... there is often little difference in price between these two star ratings, and i suspect the the hotels are not discounting too deeply for these historically busy dates. As an example... on HOTWIRE the least expensive 4* for these dates is priced at $239/nite while the least expensive 3.5* is priced higher at $262/nite.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
