angelko Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 I had read the other recent post for Amsterdam so my first bid was for 1st bid4* Amsterdam (City Centre-Museum Quarter) $63it was rejected with a note saying if I bid just $17 more Price Line could find something for me.2nd bid4* Amsterdam (City Centre-Museum Quarter) $70rejected - similar note saying $10 more.3rd bidI hit the back button and changed the price to $80 and re-submitted 4* Amsterdam (City Centre-Museum Quarter) $80AcceptedRoom Cost (avg. per room, per night): $80.00 (USD)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 4Room Subtotal: $320.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $48.62 (USD)Total Room Cost: $368.62 (USD)I am not sure why my first bid was rejected since other posters had recently been successful with this price but maybe because my stay is over a weekend. Regardless, $80 seems like a good deal and much less than what I would have paid prior to having found this site. Thanks to all those who came before me. I will recommend this site and method for bidding on hotels to friends and family.Happy travels all.

gingerbelle Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Hi,I haven't seen any bids for October. Do you think it's too early to bid for October? I've checked the winning bids for the Summer months. Is it right to asume that the prices for the Autumn months would be lower? Thanks
Romelle Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Definitely not too early to start bidding. Just don't get in a hurry and run up too high too fast. Hotels might not have yet given rooms to PRICELINE inventory. One never can tell.As to whether prices might be lower, one way is to just look at the hotels other members have reported (first posting in this section). Go to their actual web sites and check their rack rates for your dates and a comparable range later this summer. Or do the same thing via Expedia or HOTWIRE (links available from here). And you will want to start a different thread for this different request to help other members find it and keep it separated from this one.Romelle
