Priceline Hotel: 3* NYC (Chelsea) Wyndham Garden Chelsea (24th St)

Hi,

Just curious if someone could give me a good idea on how to big for a 3* hotel for October 13 (tuesday) - October 15 in the following areas:

MTE

MTW

CPS

MSG

Times Square

Ideally I don't want to go above 115 but havent had any success lately.

What have you bid up to so far? Unfortunately, given the prices I'm seeing for regular rates and HOTWIRE, I don't think $115 is going to be realistic for a 3* for these dates.

Yup I don't think the 115 will be possible. A little bummed because I got the Tudor in April for under 115. Anyhow I am up to 115. I'll keep trying every day and maybe something will happen. :)

This is an expensive time of year so i'd at least book a back-up hotel which you can cancel in order to protect yourself from prices rising while you continue to try PRICELINE (and HOTWIRE).

Thanks...any recs for booking a place in advance?

I was thinking about staying outside of Manhattan and coming in via train what not...Maybe around Hoboken...anyone have any luck with hotles near the "PATH"?

There's a 4* in the Hoboken-Jersey City area for these dates on HOTWIRE w/fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet for $126. That would be a match for either the Westin Jersey City or Hyatt on the Hudson, although given the tripadvisor rating on the detail page, I'm guessing this is likely the Westin. You could probably book a 4* in this area for less using PRICELINE, but I thought I'd note this as an option.

Would you consider staying in the Stamford/Greenwich area of Connecticut? We've stayed in that area via HOTWIRE / PRICELINE and took the train into NYC - less than an hour train ride into GCT.

I would like to stay as close as possible because I am attending two concerts in the evening - Don't want to take a long train ride at night, especially since I am a female and am planning this as a solo trip. I think Jersey might work for me. I will try a few more days of bidding to see what happens before finalizing my decision!

just curious can someone tell me if u get a 2.5* hotel does that mean it has a PRIVATE bathroom....basically could get win a bid on a 2.5* hotel and get a shared bathroom?

Well I am pretty satisfied - Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan, Chelsea West for $130.00 a night. :-)

The concerts are at St Patty's Cathedral and Lincoln Center!

Yup..Priceline 3* I went for 2.5* and above and was told I got a 3*
