kcmoguy Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 What a great site. I wish I found it sooner. I use priceline all the time and feel I have gotten pretty good with it. I will link to PRICELINE and HOTWIRE via this site when I book from now on. Most towns are pretty easy to figure out, but Chicago seems like a different animal.I am going to be in Chicago as well this weekend. We are driving, have two kids and two adults. It was mentioned that you can always get two beds in Chicago. Did I read that right. Also, we are going to Millwaukee as well, should I go there on Sat and save Chicago for Sun and or Mon? From what I can tell, hotels are more expensive in Chicago on Saturday. I could be wrong. Thanks for any help.
AaronJB Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)Using PRICELINE in Chicago definitely does not guarantee 2 beds, but you can guarantee bedding (either 2 beds or in some cases 1 bed + 1 sofabed) for your party by searching for more than 2 people on HOTWIRE. If you bid on PRICELINE, it's a matter of having to make a request with the hotel for two beds; if they take the request, it's not guaranteed, and they could say no.If you are driving between Milwaukee and Chicago, I'd highly recommend the Brat Stop (http://www.bratstop.com/), which is right between Milwaukee and Chicago, just off the expressway. There's one problem: there's something going on in Chicago on Saturday, as prices are very expensive, but Sunday/Monday are fine. There's also something going on in Milwaukee on Saturday, as there's no availability for downtown Milwaukee hotels (although there is some availability in Milwaukee just outside downtown on Saturday.)So, it's really either stay just outside Milwaukee on Saturday or stay outside Chicago on Saturday. Are you staying Sunday night and Monday night in Chicago, or are you leaving Monday? When searching for Sunday, leave Monday in Chicago I'm seeing a 3.5* on HOTWIRE in the North Michigan Ave/Water Tower/Gold Coast area with the amenities: fitness, business, restaurant, pool, internet for $75 (the price you see may vary slightly), which would be a very reasonable deal. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
kcmoguy Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 We can stay in suburban Milwaukee on Sat and downtown Chicago on Sunday, that should work. I have never used HOTWIRE, guess I can give it a try. I have never had a problem getting two beds with priceline, but I have never used PRICELINE in Chicago.I will try HOTWIRE. Thanks!
