Hi - bidding on these dates soon for downtown. Just wanted opinions on starting high up in my bids to perhaps avoid getting Westin? Or is there not really a guarantee that I won't just get the Westin anyway if I bid $70-$89? In which case I may start lower in my bids.

Thanks.

I will be using the PRICELINE link

There is no way to avoid getting a particular hotel (for example, the Westin) that may show up when you bid for a particular star rating/area.

If you try bidding more to avoid a particular hotel, you will almost certainly pay more than you should have for a hotel you could have gotten for less.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.

See this thread for an indepth discussion: Don't Bid Higher for a Specific Hotel

If you're trying to target a specific hotel HOTWIRE can be a better option. I would start there to see if you believe the hotel you're hoping for is offered for your dates.
