Otter7 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Tried them all yesterday. Bid $105 for 2 and 3 days, $107 for 1. Rejected, no counter offer. I had been getting counteroffers last month for $107 for three days and $122 for 2 days (Friday and Saturday). Now, nothing. I wonder if there is something special going on there this weekend.
MadFlyer Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 While not the only possible hotel, the Marriott Copenhagen is showing sold out on that Friday and Saturday night at Expedia. You had a window there at $99 to $103 in your previous thread, but it appears highly unlikely that the booking situation will return and would recomend you make other arrangements if you have not already done so. Hilton has a promotion going 2 for 1 including breakfast that looks like 980DKK at CPH airport but only for 630SEK or $87 at Malmo Sweden which is 20 minutes by train. They let you book 3 nights. Sweden is now cheaper than Denmark as currency is weaker. Dont know if that would be an option if you are price sensitive.
Otter7 Posted July 24, 2009 Author Report Posted July 24, 2009 Yes, you are quite right that I had an opportunity that I let slip through my fingers. I am learning as I go, both about bidding and prices in Scandanavia in general. 2 for 1 might work, I will have to see what the end cost is. I was able to book a room in a private residence for $110 per night total. Not nearly as nice, but it is a place to go. Now that I really get it about prices in Scandanavia I would have bid higher earlier, Oh well. Let me look at the Hilton offer. Did you have to follow any special link for that?
MadFlyer Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 hilton 2 for 1 http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/promotions/hi_...mmer,ispagelink
MadFlyer Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 the budget in "luxury" option in Copenhagen is this chain.... http://www.cabinn.com/english/kbh/kbh.html Standards are high in Scandinavia and you really do not need a 4 or 5 star hotel there.
Otter7 Posted July 24, 2009 Author Report Posted July 24, 2009 I checked the Hilton offer, too much in Copenhagen for me, but Malmo was fine. Unfortunately the train over the bridge is $26 per round trip, so going back and forth to the hotel twice a day would add too much on for me, once I consider the cost and time lost traveling. (I am traveling with a three year old and he will need to nap once a day.) The Cabinn looks okay, but I think it may be very close to what I have now in a private home, both in price and quality. Either could be better, it will be hard to know until I get there. :)BTW - Thank so much for your info! It is great to have the help.

Otter7 Posted August 6, 2009 Author Report Posted August 6, 2009 Have you found any thing yet?No, I have retried occasionally, but still rejected. I will not raise my bid any further. I have an alternative that is less costly (but not as nice) and I think I am just going with that.
