cbrendan Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Hi guys,I have run into a little trouble trying to book a hotel in NYC in November and was hoping someone could help me out!I was hoping to stay in 4* in either MTE, MTW or times square/ theatre district. The dates i am travelling are the 16th Nov- 21st Nov, and then again on the 23rd Nov - 26- Nov.I have seen many people get awesome loking hotels such as the barclay for 109 a night in july/ august, but after using the proper pricline bidding technique, and bidding all the way up to 15 i still have nothing. Is November a very expensive time or am i booking too far out and should wait a while?thanks in advance guys!
thereuare Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! Please use separate threads for each leg of your stay. We'll use this thread to continue wiht your 11/16-11/21 thread, feel free to start a NEW TOPIC for your second stay.In regards to your question(s) above... it's still early for a November stay any it is an expensive time of year. There is digid missing from your amount had bid above, can you please confirm the above you have already tried. Also, is there a reason you're not including the CPS zone in your bidding?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. cbrendan Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 Im sorry, looking back over my post, it makes no sense!I meant to say i had bid up to $150, but since then have tried up to 160 and still no luck.I have been trying through the board PRICELINE links and will of course continue to do so!I had not thought to add CPS, but can if you reccomend the location.Ive never been to America let alone NY (im from Australia) and am trying to stay in the ideal location. We want to be in a safe neighborhood and are planning to see at least 1 broadway show. Apart from that it will be the general tourist trail.Seeing my stay is split in 2, is staying in soho/ financial district reccomended for one of the stints? or is everything in manhattan within easy reach of everything else? subway/ cabs etc? Thanks so much in advance
AaronJB Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Downtown/Soho isn't without a few sights to see, but it's generally not recommended, as it is pretty far South. CPS is a very nice area, and well worth including in bidding.Orbitz.com has the Room-Mate Grace for $179 for 11/23-26. If you use the coupon code SUMMERVIN, that should take off 15% (although may require using a Visa card.) If the coupon is successful, that would be a great, well-reviewed boutique hotel w/free breakfast in a very nice location near Times Square. Please use the site's Orbitz.com link if this is of interest.
thereuare Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Central Park South should be fine to add and will be Centrally located. As AaronJB points out above, there are a few things to do Downtown, but generally speaking midtown is where you want to be, and you can easily get Downtown via mass transit when you want to go there, but not something you would want to do multiple times daily as you'll likely be in midtown for the majority fo your time.If you'd like us to suggest a bidding strategy to follow which includes CPS, along wiht your other zones above, let us know your maximum bid and we'll advise accordingly. Thanks for using our PRICELINE links to begin your bidding :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
