leechild4 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Hi,I am planning on travelling from the UK to Toronto aug29th and looking to stay for one night in a 4* (if people let me know if this is the best option) hotel in the downtown area. I am looking to propose to my fiancee over there that evening. I admit i havent looked into priceline/hotwire or other review sites as of yet (found this site before those! I was just wondering which hotel people would suggest for:- a really nice room and somewhere special- and somewhere where i might be able to 'persuade' the front desk for an upgrade for our special evening :)Realise that no one will be able to say for definite, but thought i would just ask just in case. Really appreciate any feedback or advice. Now all I have to make sure is that she says YES!!
AaronJB Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Welcome to the site and congrats on the upcoming proposal! :)Unfortunately, HOTWIRE and PRICELINE reservations are not eligible for upgrades. While you may be able to convince at check-in, there's definitely no guarantee. What would be your budget for hotel for the night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
leechild4 Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Ahh okay. apologies I havent fully read through enough about these booking systems. I would be looking to pay upto $150CAD for the night. how far would this get me in fair toronto?thanks
AaronJB Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 It would be somewhat over your budget, but the 4 1/2* Park Hyatt - which has not been reported on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE - is $170 on Orbitz.com for this date. The coupon code SUMMERVIN may work for 15% off that price - if that worked, it would be only a few dollars over budget. There's plenty of nice, less expensive properties, as well. I just thought I'd throw out the Park Hyatt is as a "top-end" suggestion.Other ideas include a lake view at the Westin Harbor Castle (on sale for $116 via Orbitz, or the Toronto Yorkville Intercontinental for $134.HOTWIRE has 4*'s in downtown Toronto for $80 and $66 - if those are of interest, let us know and we can try to ID them. Please use the site's Orbitz, PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.
