Nuno Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 Hi,I'm new to PRICELINE and to this forum, thank you in advance for your help. I'm going to London for a romantic get away. I would like to surprise my wife with a nice 4* or 5* hotel. Can you give any pointers to what areas should i chose and also price for the hotel?Thank you!

Nuno Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 I was thinking at around 100USD/night. Is it a fair price?Thank you.
thereuare Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Typcially your budget will not be enough for a 5* hotel in the "center" of the city, but there has been a 5* hotel reported in the Docklands zone for dates right around yours: Priceline London Docklands Marriott. To be more central you'll probably be looking at a 4* property.Just like planning any trip, you should first determine some of the things you'd like to do in order to determine which area(s) will work best for your plans. Then look at the PRICELINE zone(s) and boundaries to see which areas will work best for your needs. Of course if you're in the center you don't have to plan as much since you'll have the greatest access to subways and mass transportation to take you just about anyplace in the city you would like to go.You can also get a feel for the most popular areas bid/received thru PRICELINE and HOTWIRE by entering "London" in the QUICK SEARCH box in the bannear at the top of the board which will quickly give a sense of the zones most frequently awarded, as well as the prices associated with these zones (keeping in mind that prices are dates specific, so the prices you see won may or may not necessarily be available for your particular dates). You can also use the calendalrofwins (London is classified under "Other Countries" in the alphabetical dropdown list) to see prices for this area which may have been won for dates around your own.Let us know how you make out with the above and which zone(s) you decide are acceptable, we'll then be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow.
