zmm Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I am looking to stay in Manhattan for one night, this Monday July 20. I want to get the nicest 4 star hotel in the $100 to $150 dollar range. Any ideas on a bidding strategy?

thereuare Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown, TS, MTE, MTW, and CPS...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* ESB...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Downtown, TS, MTE, MTW, and CPS and ESB...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding.Good luck and let us know how it goes. zmm Posted July 19, 2009 Author Report Posted July 19, 2009 Thanks a lot!I have 3 questions1) When you say add a rebid zone, do you mean the first time I should only bid for TS then add MTE if it does not work out?2) what does closing the browser and re accessing help?3) Is the order TS, MTE, MTW, and CPS specific, or would bidding CPS, TS... be the same thing? Thanks

thereuare Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Congratulations on your success!A very nice deal for this property... hope you're happy with the deal you received. Were you able to figure out what we meant by re-bidding (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) and the strategy that we suggested above or do you want us to answer the questions you previously asked so you can use the information for your future bidding attempts?Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.PS- this property is near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers. zmm Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 The only thing I am still wondering about is how you can start bidding again by closing your window and then starting over.
thereuare Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Since you can't "UNCHECK" zones during the re-bid process, closing the browser allows you to start from a clean slate and select only the zones you want on that bid... duplicate bid rules still apply, but it allows you to clear the checkmarks on the zones you previously selected. To be clear, the first bid above would have bid all FIVE zones that were listed in the first line. Note that every bid in the strategy above is a unique combination of zones which had not been bid previously, which is why none are rejected as a duplicate.Does this make it clearer?
