madcitygirl33 Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'd like advice on bidding for the North Mich Ave/Gold Coast area. I have a hotel booked in the Loop - just in case I don't find anything better. But, I'd rather be near shops/restaurants - so if I can find something for $100 or less in a better location, I'll be happy. I checked Hotwire - and I found a 4-star hotel for $110 in the Streeterville/Mag Mile location. What would this translate to in a Priceline bid? Could I start at $80? Also, is there a big difference between 3-star & 4-star hotels in the Mag Mile area? Please let me know how to proceed. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 There are actually some pretty nice 3* hotels in the River North/NMA area, including a couple (the Indigo and the rare-to-appear Homewood Suites) which I actually think are nicer than some of the 4*'s in the area. However, the majority of the 4*'s in the Mag Mile area are quite nice. The only 4* in the NMA that I think I would really fall into the negative category on would be the Sheraton.I'd recommend starting at $80 on PRICELINE for a 4* in the River North/NMA, but you may have to go to $90-95, based on the prices I'm seeing. Still, given the amount of time, it's worth trying $80 to start with. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
madcitygirl33 Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Posted July 18, 2009 Thanks for the post. I'm probably fine with a 3-star hotel. Should I start bidding at $80 for a 3-star - if the 4-star doesn't yield any results? Or should I start lower? Thanks.
