Nikabrik Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 I was going for a 4* (it's our honeymoon), and started bidding at $40 for Downtown, because I'd seen the Hyatt show up for that low on here before. But after adding 4 or 5 different areas, and raising my bids up to $55, I still couldn't get a 4* in Downtown. I don't understand why, since it seems everyone and their brother can get the Hyatt or Hilton for $49 without any trouble.I didn't want to spend more than $200 (taxes and fees incl.) for 3 nights, so I waited 24hrs, and tried again, same result. Finally I decided to add 3.5* to my options, and brought my bid down to $45. I got the Radisson right away.Any idea why I couldn't get the 4* under $50 like so many people? At least the Radisson looks nice, though I may see what upgrades are available when we get there.
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Congratulations on your success and welcome to the site. Congrats on your honeymoon! :)Rates are not the same for every date; if hotels are busy on your dates, rates are going to be higher than what other people got. This still does look like a very nice win for the Radisson. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
Nikabrik Posted July 19, 2009 Author Report Posted July 19, 2009 Thanks! As for the dates affecting the price, is that what the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins is for? Also, I forgot to mention earlier, but I did use your PRICELINE link.
yellowdog Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 NikabrikThanx for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) The Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins is a tool to look up reported wins to the board. What AaronJB is saying is that rates are date specific. Rates are adjusted up/down depending on revenue, seasson, events in town etc. Yellowdog.
Romelle Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 You might call ahead before your stay, and tell the Radisson it is your honeymoon (612) 339-4900. One never knows what sort of perks they might choose to toss in. Also, wouldn't hurt to get on their web site and join their gold card program.Romelle
