Priceline Hotel: Waikiki for 3 nights

After the success of getting the Honolulu airport hotel for $49, I'm ready to try for the bigger dogs in Waikiki. Will be there for 3 nights, would like near the beach, and a place with pool and restaurant, a 3 star I guess. Any hints on how to get the best place in Waikiki? Ohana Reef towers is $79 on their website, not sure about that place or what star rating it would get, but the price isnt bad, so I need to better that.

Thanks.

Before setting a price you have to beat i would read some REVIEWS of the Ohana Reef Towers to see if it's acceptable to you or not.

From your other post i gather your dates are 1/21-1/24?

Let us know if $79 is indeed the price of your back-up, as i think that will be tough to beat, but i also think that you may decide otherwise after reading the reviews.

Those reviews of the Ohana Reef Towers are pretty bleak, I would certainly be aiming for a better experience than that.

Cost is critical, but we can swing up to near $100 if it means a superior hotel.

Thanks for any suggestions you have. The travel time is Jan 21st for 3 nights.

lambchop168 added their win here so that you could see it, but i moved it to his/her existing thread and re-posting the text here:

In the winter time the rates are at it's peak. I try for resort up to $130 and 4* up to $120 and were rejected. Can't afford any higher so went and tried 3* and got Waikiki South Waikiki Beachcomber hotel. Started at $50, then $60, at $68 ask me to up $17 declined and re-bid at $70, accepted. I'm happy since Feb is so expensive their. Thanks to this board.

Did it through SavingsBarn.com

Congratulations, you got your price of $70 for a 3-star hotel room.

Well, I've been on the road for a few weeks, so haven't had a chance to bid on the Waikiki hotel yet, I've decided to go for a more upscale hotel right on the beach in Waikiki since this will be the last 3 nights of our vacation in hawaii and I want it to be a good experience. Looking for strategies for bidding on beachfront in waikiki and the price I would expect to get something for, dates are Jan 21st checkout on the 24th.

Hotwire has a 4.5 star beachfront resort listed for $178, thats not bad. Any clues as to which hotel this might be?

This Hotel features the following amenities:

Resort

Beachfront

Restaurant(s)

Pool(s)

Fitness Center

Spa Services

Children's Activity Program

Golf Nearby

Tennis Nearby

Business Center

My best guess is that the above hotel is the Hilton Hawaiin Village. $178 isn't a bad rate, but not a bargain with the hotel's website at $199/nite... after Hotwire's fee it's still about a $50 savings on a 4 nite stay.

I also found:

Renaissance Ilikai for $139/nite

Sheraton Waikiki for $189/nite

Sheraton Moana Surfrider for $189/nite

If you'd like a Priceline strategy we'll need to know which zones of Waikiki are acceptable and the maximum you'd like to bid.

We want to stay on the Waikiki beachfront if possible, will a 4* get us that in Waikiki? Looking at the Hotwire hotel listing I see all the "Beachfront" 4* hotels are on the beach.

My current strategy is to bid for Waikiki north 4*, then add Waikiki south, then add airport, and then exec center. So that gives me 3 rebids. Only question is where to start with my bidding. The best price listed on hotwire for 4* is $162. Perhaps a start of $90, then up it in $10 or $15 increments? Suggestions?

Thanks Shaun

The Renaissance Ilikai at $139/nite is thru ECT. They list two "off the record" properties at $139/nite... the 4.5* which mentions a $27MM renovation is the Renaissance.

Given this deal and 'knowing' the hotel, is it a better bet for you than Priceline? If not post back and we'll supply a bidding strategy for you to follow. If you choose to try Priceline, would this be a back-up and the price to beat (or is this hotel not an option and the best other price you could find is the Hotwire hotel at $162?
