jaxmcmolar Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 First post here . Clark Howard talked about you folks.looking at 4* NMA wt8-24 to 8-262 rooms(2 adults and 1 child in 1 room, 19 yr old in the other) fitness center, restaurants, business center, hi speed internet89$ per room/per nightany clue which hotel this might be
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Welcome to the site :)This could be a few different hotels - the Millennium Knickerbocker, Drake, Allerton and Westin Michigan Ave all appear with this set of amenities, and with no tripadvisor rating on the detail page, it's difficult to narrow down which it could be.I'd rather recommend the 3.5* NMA w/Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa that's showing for $79 (the price you see may be slightly different.) That would be a likely match for the Hotel Indigo, which is one of my favorite hotels in the city in the "under 4*" category. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase, and please let us know if you have questions.

I'm afraid the Indigo is too far from all the stuff my wife wants to do.Are there any tricks to find out more about the 4* listed? We would like to find a hotel with a pool. How likely is that?
jaxmcmolar Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Posted July 18, 2009 I'm looking at 3 choices for my families short stay in Chicago. My wife and I are traveling with our 19 year old son and 4.5 yr old daughter. I was looking at a condo but with the cleaning fees they are out of the question...Less $ money on the room will = more fun.4*Mag mile/streetervillesmokefreefitness centerrestaurantbusiness centerhigh spd inter89$ 2 rooms: 3 adults ,1 child4*NMA w-towerfitness centerrestaurantbusiness centerhigh spd inter79$ 2 rooms: 3 adults, 1child4.5* Mag mile/streetervillefitness centerrestaurantbusiness centerhigh spd interlaundryspa119$ 2 rooms: 3 adults, 1childYour help would be very appreciated.
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 The 4* MM/Streeterville would likely be the Sheraton, the 4.5* MM/Streeterville would likely be the James. Unfortunately, again - no way to know exactly which of the possibilities the 4* NMA is. Which set of dates are the confirmed dates for this trip? I am also seeing a match for the Embassy Suites Lakefront for 8/24-26 (a 3.5* Mag Mile/Streeterville listing with a Suite Icon, as well as breakfast, fitness, pool, restaurant, business, internet for $119.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 One other big suggestion: Expedia has the MDA Apartments for $240 for a 2BR apartment for each night. If you wanted to do that rather than two separate rooms, that would be an idea. Additionally - while you would have to confirm this with the property - I don't believe you get charged hotel tax at the MDA, since it is a luxury apartment and not a hotel. Please use the site's Expedia.com link if this idea is of interest.

AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Yep. My 2 cents - personally the Sheraton is my least favorite of the 4*'s in the NMA area (poor service, bland rooms), but some people do like it.

AaronJB Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your results with the board. A huge recommendation would be Fox and Obel Cafe and Market (fox-obel.com), which is just a block or so East of the hotel, on the corner of McClurg and Illinois. The cafe serves a wonderful (and fairly reasonable, considering the quality of ingredients) breakfast/lunch/dinner and the market is a lot of fun to browse around. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
