AZ Resort Hunter Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 As requested, I started a NEW TOPIC to request help on an upcoming stay.I am trying to ensure I bid the area of Tucson, AZ resorts such that I will be assured of getting the Ventana Canyon resort (or nothing). The problem is that the regional map on Priceline is not very clear on its boundaries for region 1 within Tucson named La Paloma - Ventana Canyon. By its name alone I would assume this region contains both potential resorts in the area, La Paloma resort and Ventana Canyon resort. So I am somewhat hesitant to bid with confidence to ensure Ventana Canyon accepts my bids/re-bids and that La Paloma does NOT snap one of them up! Location is important for this particular stay as our group needs to be within cycling distance of Mt. Lemmon highway start for a planned event.I have never seen a bid accepted by La Paloma on this site - only Ventana Canyon seems to be accepting bids - but without absolute clarity on the regoin boundary there appears to be a potential risk that La Paloma could accept a bid. This is a big deal to our group as we have have a few negative experiences at La Paloma and always had great experiences at Ventana Canyon! Will be a bummer if I cannot use Priceline to ensure getting into Ventana Canyon at a good price, I can't risk getting stuck in La Paloma.Any insight, help, recommendation, and/or confirmation that the risk is real so don't chance it is greatly appreciated! Thanks again for all the help on a very useful forum - yes, I use the links from here too! :-)
thereuare Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Priceline Westin La Palmoa wins:OneTwoThreeIf you're looking for (or need) a specific property then PRICELINE is usually not the best route, for even if the wins above had not been reported in ths zone, you could be the first to report a new hotel to the board. You may want to try HOTWIRE and see if you can identify the property offered based upon the amenities and any other info provided... it's still a risk, but at least you can take an educated guess. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. AZ Resort Hunter Posted July 21, 2009 Author Report Posted July 21, 2009 Thank you! I hadn't lookedback that far to see the La Paloma wins.I checked the $76 4 star in Foothills oh Hotwire - unfortunately the expanded amenities list currently look to be identical (Amenities: Resort, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Childrens Activities) for both properties!Grrr... I wish I could find out which of the 2 will accept the offer...
yellowdog Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 AZ Resort HunterCan you please post your dates for the stay and we'll have a look at this.Yellowdog.
AZ Resort Hunter Posted July 23, 2009 Author Report Posted July 23, 2009 Yes! Thank you Yellowdog.I plan to check-in on 8/14/09 and check-out on 8/16/09. Critical that we end up at Ventana Canyon (and NOT La Paloma).Let me know if you need any additional info and are able to determine anything one way or the other.Thank you!
thereuare Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Tripadvisor info is shown for the HOTWIRE property, but the two hotels are so close in reviews that i don't have enough cofidence to make a call either way given the inflexibility of your plans. If you do decide to move forward, please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
