yoyo1908 Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 - I started off at $38 in marietta for 3.5* like other posts state it was rejected- I added $2 and Smryna and it was rejected - 7/21-7/28I am not sure what to do since other posts state they secured booking on first try with $38 Please advise
AaronJB Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Rates are "date-specific" - do not go on what other people were able to get if they are for different dates than yours. What would be your max budget per night? Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.
yoyo1908 Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 I guess my max bid would be $50Should I break my dates into two seperate stays
thereuare Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Whether to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID depends upon what's most important to you... budget or convenience. Would you prefer to pay a little more and not have to change hotels during your stay OR is price the most important aspect and you don't mind switching properties in the middle of your stay? Also, are there any other zones which may also work well for your neesd this trip?Letus know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. yoyo1908 Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Posted July 18, 2009 I would prefer to pay a little more. Please advise on what I am doing wrong. I begin with $38 and 3.5*, then add $2 and 4*
yoyo1908 Posted July 19, 2009 Author Report Posted July 19, 2009 :) Entered 3.5* bid $507/21-7/28Crowne Plaza accepted I am sooo disappointed I really wanted Hyatt and tried to get help to get it but no one gave any bidding suggestions oh well ...it is what it is :)
thereuare Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 When you select 3.5* it's the minimum you are willing to accept, so PRICELINE also searches for 4*, Resort, and 5* hotels (if available) on a 3.5* bid to see if they can upgrade you... therefor if your 3.5* bid is rejected, you can't simply add 4* to try again since this would be viewed as a duplicate bid (since a 4* hotel for only this zone was already searched/tried when you submitted your 3.5* bid)This is where re-bidding comes into play, as you can add zones which don't have any hotels that meet your minimum threshold requirements in order to attempt your bid again. Are you familair with re-bidding? If not, please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask any questions you have and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board (it's strongly recommended that you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding if you're new to the concept and/or procedure)At the 4* level you have 13 re-bid zones avaiable... and 10 re-bid zones at the 3.5* level. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know any questions you have reagarding the above. yellowdog Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 Thank you for sharing your win with the board.Your post got answered. You have to give the board a window to answer. But i doubt a "bidding suggestion" would have given you a diffrent hotel When bidding for the same date, amount and zone. If you're trying to target a specific property then HOTWIRE can often be a better option if you're successfully able to identify it based upon the star rating and amenities shown before your purchase. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.
