AaronJB Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Good morning and welcome to the site.Rates are date-specific. If the city is busier on your dates (convention, season, etc. etc.), rates will be higher. One cannot go on what other people have gotten unless they have something for the exact same dates. My guess is that an acceptable 4* bid for Midtown is not that much higher (based on rates, I'd be surprised if $180-190 wasn't accepted), but you have already gone quite high at $170.Personally, I'd either:1. Wait it out and try again in a week, bidding as you did up to $170.2. Try again up to $185-190, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.3. Try to bid lower for a 3.5*Let us know your thoughts and we can proceed from there with suggestions. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
carolinew Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Thanks for the tips Aaron. Someone has a booking at the Westin for $169 for that week but it looks like they booked about 9 months ago.$170 was higher than I budgeted but I got carried away hence am hesitant to go higher than that.REally want Westin, Sheraton Towers or any of the MTW 4*'s as they all sound pretty good. If I lower my star rating, I'd be worried I'd get something I don't really want as pretty set on 4*. PS - I love PRICELINE AND betterbidding :)
thereuare Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 This is a busier than usual, ane therefore expensive, time in NYC, but with the hotel market generally weak i'd be a little patient and try bidding this every 3-4 days or so.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us udpated and let us know if we can be of further help.
