EdMoy Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I am new to this forum so please let me know if I am doing something wrong.I am looking for a hotel in the Markham, ON area. I looked at hotwire and it is at the price of $63.00. I wouldnt mind staying at the holiday inn but it also saids that there are 2 other hotels in that area. Anyone know which ones they are? I would like to do research on the other hotels before bidding either via priceline or hotwire. I am planning on going there 8-10 to the 13. Thanks for any help.
thereuare Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! We've moved your post to its own topic since your dates are different than the thrad you replied to.I wouldnt mind staying at the holiday inn but it also saids that there are 2 other hotels in that area. Anyone know which ones they are?HOTWIRE doesn't tell you the name of the hotels that they deal with in a specific area. is this the information you're refering to:Our 3-star hotels include:Holiday Inn, Radisson, DoubleTree, and other respected hotel brandsIf so read it carefully, all it's saying is that Holiday Inn, Radisson, and Dobletree are some examples of 3 star hotels, and ther are other 'respected' brands that are 3* rated as well. I wouldn't read into this info too much as star rating are hotel specific, and while the majority of Holiday Inn properties are likley rated 3* by HOTWIRE, there are some which are 2.5* and some which are 3.5*, so you can't really rely on this information the way you are.If this wasn't the information that you were refering to in your original comment, please clarify. What are the amenities that HOTWIRE associaated with the 3* hotel that you're being offered for your dates? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. EdMoy Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Posted July 18, 2009 I guess what i am trying to ask is that what do you think I will most likely get if I go and place a bid? I wanted to know about the other hotels in the area is because I am a IT tech and I need the high speed internet to be available. I saw one hotel was offering comp. internet but it was dial-up only. Any info you can help me would be EXCELLENT.Doesnt matter to me if it is via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.Thanks
thereuare Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 I guess what i am trying to ask is that what do you think I will most likely get if I go and place a bid?Nobody can say... with PRICELINE it's really rolling the dice and you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you select. You can see the hotels in this zone that have been reported to the board by looking in our Priceline Hotel List, but also read the comments at the top of that page regarding the hotels lists can't ever be considered 'complete' as new hotels are added/removed/upgrded/downgraded all the time.Doesnt matter to me if it is via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.Bottomline is that if price is most important you can usually get a better deal thru PRICELINE, but not have any guess as to which hotel in the zone you may likely received... if you're trying to target, or avoid, a particular property, then HOTWIRE can be a better, yet slightly more expensive, option (but still no guarnatees) Given your situation, you'd also want to find a hotel with the Hi-Speed internet icon, as that would at least ensure that the property offers hi-speed internet (although i can't imagine what star level property offered dial-up service)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
