Bobjo Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Hello, this is my first post. I read most of the stickies and tried to find the best deal afterward, but I'm a travel-deal newbie and maybe you folks can land me a better deal. I'll need to make about 6 trips over the next month and a half, so I'm hoping this site can save me a bunch of $$.3 grad students in NYC for the weekend (along with a bunch of other classmates at various hotels). We have interviews in Times Square area (Doubletree Hotel Times Square), but otherwise want to see the sights, enjoy the NYC nightlife, and eat some delicious but not-too-expensive NYC cuisine. We don't mind walking/taking cabs/riding the subway, although I imagine that becomes more and more costly the farther away we get midtown area.2 of us are staying 8/1 to 8/4 (3 nights, 4 days). 1 of us is leaving a day early -- 8/1 to 8/3 (2 nights, 3 days).3* will be perfectly fine, although if we can get a 3.5 or 4* hotel for just a little more that would be fine. I would go with a 2.5* hotel if it is one that others recommend.A room with a working refrigerator would be a big plus... but all we really need is a (legitimately) clean room with WiFi, A/C, 2 beds, and hot water.I guess the biggest issue is that it looks like we can't comfortably use Priceline with 3 people, so getting deals is a bit less exciting. Also, I can't WAIT to book my hotel using a link from this site!------------------------------Ok, so here is the research I've done so far... My plan at this point I guess would be to book with EasyClickTravel and go with Ameritania (I guess), and then see if I can get a steal through Hotwire before Aug1 (at which point I'd just cancel with ECT for free, right?). thereuare Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! Why the Ameritania... the reviews are not really that good. What would you consider a 'deal'? For the same amount as the Ameritania you could lock in a much better hotel thru HOTWIRE, but of course you'd be locked in and that would be your 'final' deal. HOTWIRE has 3.5* at $159 (best guess is the Roosevelt) and an even nicer 4* hotel for $199/nite (not that much more when divided 3 ways)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
