dermolch Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 I started at $75 bid with $5 increments and ended up at $95.. (Even though I saw other people got it for $75). But I am still happy with the Shearton, it was kind of first choice for me. My first PRICELINE purchase (Found out about this forum through a friend). Some people are writing sentences like: "Now it's time to e-mail the concierge to try and get a free upgrade!" - What does that mean? Is that really possible and/or realistic? if yes: how to find out the email-address and how to argument to get the upgrade?Best regards,Dermolch
SportsGal999 Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 You have the potential to try and pull an upgrade off, depends on how busy the hotel is, if they have room, and if they are willing to accommodate you.. I did that for the Fairmont Chateau Whistler last year, I booked a regular room (not through PRICELINE or HOTWIRE through their special rates newsletter) and then looked on their website for the concierge or guest services e-mail and asked for a special request because it was my boyfriend's and I anniversary that day and I want to make it special blah blah blah.. They went over the top for us and we got upgraded to a Deluxe room on the top floor facing Blackcomb Mountain.. And we received a nice card from the GM saying Happy Anniversary and got free chocolate covered strawberries! We were very impressed so it was a nice stay. So I'll try that whenever I can :) It's never a guarantee but it doesn't hurt to ask especially if it's for a special occasion.
