powerpuffy99 Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 I was lucky to find a ticket from Amsterdam to JFk for only
thereuare Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Rates are curerntly somewhat high for your dates, it is seasonally a stronger season than summer, but not sure if that's the onlyl factor currently affecting rates (or if it's just early or if there is something big happening in town on these dates, such as a meeting at the UN)While i doubt you'll currently be successful at $140 or less for a 3.5* or higher, you could certainly give it a try. I do think you have a chance at a 3* for this price, but not sure if you want to lower your star rating 2+ months before your stay or if you prefer to wait it out. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. powerpuffy99 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 Thanks for the reply.I think I'll give it a try tonight, maybe I'm lucky. If not, I'm going to wait a few weeks.
powerpuffy99 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Report Posted July 16, 2009 I tried from $110 up to $130 for a 3.5 or 4* in all there areas mentioned above but without luck.Sunday looks fine but I think the other 2 nights are expensive dates.
AaronJB Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 A 3* seems to be within reach, given the $159 3* in the Midtown Central area on HOTWIRE. Unfortunately, 3.5*'s on that service are $225+ and 4*'s are $259+.
powerpuffy99 Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 I added 3* and went up to $124 but nothing :)

I do think you have a chance at a 3* for this price...I'm not very surprised at your rejection up to $124... i thought/think you have a chance at $140 or less, but it's far from a 'sure thing', that bids 10% lower would have a low chance of success at the moment, imo.Still plenty of time to take it slow though. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated. powerpuffy99 Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 Still nothing. I've seen a lot of new topics for these dates but all without luck.I went up to $140 excluding tax for 4 and 3.5 * and $135 for 3*.I booked the new Comfort inn Manhattan Bridge for only $345. The location isn't great but it's new so I think it's clean, free breakfast and very close to the subway station. Can cancel 2 days before arrival so I still have time to bid.

powerpuffy99 Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 Well I went up to $160 for a 3* property but without luck.I was able to get 2 free nights certificates for any Hampton inn so I decided to book the Hampton Inn Empire State Building. If it all works out I only need to pay the first night of my stay. Thanks for all your advice!
