Daneel Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Hi all!Edit - I'm an idiot, dates are 3-6th September!I'm trying to choose and find the best price on a hotel for my Thursday to Sunday 3 night trip. It will be my first trip to Vegas and while I'd like to check out the casinos, I don't expect to spend much time gambling (just play some poker probably). I would like to see the show O, and visit the Grand Canyon (if any one can point me to where I can find a good deal on this that would be fantastic) during my 3 days. What I'd like from the hotel I choose:1. Possible early check-in, I'll be arriving in Vegas around 9am on the Thursday2. Smoke free would be good but isn't a huge deal if the non-smoking rooms don't smell of smoke3. Easy access to night life for Friday and Saturday night (how much will taxis cost me / how long will it take to walk?)4. Reasonable priceIn light of this, hotels I'm considering (prices including taxes):Four Seasons - Non-smoking, very good reviews, might be a bit quiet for night life, not sure how easy it will be to get to the clubs on Friday/Saturday. Cheapest price I can find is ~$570 on their own website.Wynn - Good reviews, lots going on at night(?), smoky casino. Best deal I can find is hotwire ~540.Trump - Non-smoking, pretty good location, good but not fantastic reviews. $420 on hotwire though it seems there's another $45 in resort fees to pay, so $465 total.MGM Grand - Reasonable reviews, good location. Hotwire ~ $430I'm also considering splitting my stay, the Four Seasons cost for two nights, regardless of if it's Thursday and Friday, or Friday and Saturday, is 2/3 of the price above.Any suggestions on where I should stay given what I want to do (O show, night life, canyon trip) and my preferences? It's my first post here, sorry if I have messed up.Thanks in advance!
AaronJB Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Welcome to the site.Early check-in is generally - as far as I've ever seen - a "request" and not a guarantee. Some hotel listings on HOTWIRE are designated "smoke-free", which would mean the entire hotel is. Otherwise, while most HOTWIRE reservations are placed into non-smoking rooms, there have been instances where people have been stuck with a smoking room on a busy day. Same with PRICELINE. If you want to ensure smoke-free, it's best to either be able to find a smoke-free icon on HOTWIRE or pay regular rate. Edit: let me recheck with these new dates.....
AaronJB Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Additionally..The Friday/Saturday nights are considerably more expensive - must be something going on in Vegas on these dates. The Four Seasons would be $564.57 + $50 spa credit on Expedia. Additionally, coupon code 10JUL takes another $30 off that rate = $534.57.The Signature at MGM Grand is $552.83 (use the fabsave10 coupon code to get 10% off, which would lead to the total of $552.83.) on Orbitz for a Junior Suite + $35 resort credit and 2 comp cocktails.Hopefully those more familiar with Vegas can offer more insights regarding locations, but I wanted to chime in on some other deals. Please use the site's Orbitz.com, Expedia, PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.
Daneel Posted July 15, 2009 Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 Thanks for taking the time to reply to me AaronJB. Using Hotels.com I've managed to get the price at the Four Seasons down to ~$505 which I think I'm going to struggle to beat. My only concern is that it leaves me quite far from the main strip area which presumably is where I'll want to go on Friday/Saturday night?
TonyVH Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I believe your dates fall into Labor Day weekend :)
