jetsetta Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Didn't have any particular preference about where to stay except that we desired 4*+. A fairly extensive bidding process (detailed below) resulted in getting what I think must be close to the lowest price for any 4*+ hotel on Manhattan for these dates. Was hoping to score a 4* for less than $129, but I suppose this is still a pretty good price for dates over one of the more busy weekends of the summer. Here is my bidding strategy, at all times bidding only for 4*+ properties:1st bid: $115 in Downtown-Soho-Financial District2nd bid: $120, added Midtown East3rd bid: $125, added Midtown West4th bid: $126, added Empire State Building Area5th bid: $127, added Central Park South6th bid: $128, added Times Square-Theatre District7th bid: $129, added Madison Square GardenFinally accepted at $129, bidding on Downtown-Soho-Financial-District/MTE/MTW/ESB/CPS/MSG/Times Square. Phew!Have not stayed at the Millenium Hilton before, but willing to give it a try. Have heard reasonably good things and I imagine construction won't be too much of a bother as we won't often be at the hotel except late at night. Worked in the Financial District for long enough to know what will be open later on (admittedly not much) so not too concerned about that either. Thanks to BB.com for info that helped in bidding!
