I'm looking to do all the touristy things like the bridge, Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf etc. I'd also like to check out the Castro. Can anyone recommend me an area? I was looking at USW, especially the Nikko but I know not to get my hopes up for a particular hotel.I know you probably get this all the time but any help would be fantastic. I will hoping to stay from 08/07 - 08/09.Kind regards

It was a wonderful experience. At Union Square, you can purchase a traveler's package for about $59 per person. With the tickets in that package, you can ride on transit trolly's for free (which pretty much takes you to most of the attractions, except the Alcatraz!). The package includes museums such as the de Young art museum, a fleet cruise to and around the Golden Bridge, a science museum whose name I couldn't recall and a good other few! We also had a wonderful time at the Alcatraz. You can book for the alcatraz ticket online at their official website (something like http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/) two days beforehand as the spots do fill up really quickly!

I'm not sure if I'll be travelling alone yet so just wanted to make sure to be in the right place. $59 sounds a steal, will definitely look into that when I get there.Thanks!

So I chose 6 - 8 August.Strategy:$60 USW (Rebid offer for $17)$63 USW + Moscone (Again rebid appeared)Successful with $65 USW + Moscone + Civic Centre.Very pleased - looked up Expedia and Hilton which both want approx $450. I also used the PRICELINE link.
