gingerb5721 Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 I am planning a trip to Chicago in September and am meeting a friend who is flying in from Canada. I planned on using Pricline to book both of our rooms - I will do the bidding with the assumption we will end up in the same hotel. Is this correct? The problem is she will be staying for 3 nights and I will only be staying for 2. Is there an option on Priceline to extend the stay for only one of the rooms after my bid is accepted for the both rooms?
yellowdog Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I will do the bidding with the assumption we will end up in the same hotel. Is this correct? If you're bidding for the same dates only. You can't bid on two rooms at the same time for diffrent dates.Like you're saying, the problem is diffrent dates. It's no guarantee that you will get an offer to extend your stay. And if you get the offer can it be that the extra night is much more expensive than the previous. Is this a risk you're willing to take?I would say that HOTWIRE is a much better option for you in this case.Yellowdog.
thereuare Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 You can't extend the stay for only one room of a two room purchase.Another option is to bid for 2rooms/2nites... then bid separately for the one room for the extra nite needed (which may end up a a different property... but at least you'll be assured of the same hotel for the nites together)You could also do the above when using HOTWIRE, so that you can likely determine if the hotel you're about to buy for the 'extra' nite is the same as your previous purchase, based upon the amenities matching the first purchase. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. What are the actual dates of your stay, desired zone, and budget? (we'll move this thread to the Illinois section of the board one you reply) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Chicago's really not that vast. If you bid in the same zone (the River North/NMA zone, for example) and get two different hotels, chances are that those two properties really won't be very far from one another. You could also use HOTWIRE, as well. However, if you did wind up in separate hotels, it may actually be nice to have two separate "bases" in different areas to be able to stop and rest while you're walking around. Again though, if you got two separate 4* hotels in the River North/NMA area, for example, the worst case scenario would be that they would be about a 15 minute walk from one another - more likely, they'd be closer than that.
