I am looking to book a hotel from January 8 2010 to January 11 2010.

Happy with either 3.5* or 4* in any of the following areas:

MTE

MTW

CPS

TS

Can anyone help with a bidding strategy.

As a back up I have reserved 3.5* in central park direct with hotel for $147 per night including taxes which I am delighted with so please advise if you think I am wasting my time bidding through priceline.

Thanks

sbastick,

You need to know how to check your re-bid zones on your own since they can change at any time, so they need to be checked immediately before any (and every) bidding cycle. If we simply listed the zones, they could change between the time we post and the time you bid, potentially leaving you in an area you didn't intend.

Please read the pervious Priceline Re-Bidding Explained link and feel free to ask questions. At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones, at the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones... see if you determine them and confirm them with the board. If you're confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you one step at a time.

What is the hotel you booked as a back-up?

Did you ever reply to your messages? :)

I did reply to my previous message from you.

Hotel I have booked as back up is On The Ave in UWS. Happy with the hotel and what I paid though ideally would rather be somewhere around midtown.

Managed to work how to establish the rebid zones, hadn't appreciated that there wasn't a list hence the confusion on my part, will keep you posted with how I get on and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links provided.

Thanks for your help to date.

This is generally a slow time in NYC so i would think you should be able to beat your current back-up hotel.

Did you want to try for a 4* hotel first up to your maximum bid and then, if rejected, try for a 3.5*... OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?

What is your maximum bid?

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.

Ideally looking for 4* hotel so intend bid up to my maximum for 4* and then, if rejected, move onto 3.5*.

Based on back up hotel price, looking at maximum bid of $140 exclusive of taxes for 4*.

Thanks

At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, and TS...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $125, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, and TS and re-bid zone5...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone4...

Bid $140
