Amenities listed were complimentary breakfast, high speed internet, and golf nearby.

I joined this forum to report this hotel...I did not see it on the list. I booked this hotel the night before the stay...arrived and it was NOT at all a 2.5* hotel. Room was filthy dirty, in fact I found drug materials in the room and the smoke alarm disabled. Reported to staff on duty and was shown to a room that was not much better. To top it off, the motel is a long walk (>1 mile) from the historic district and there is NOT high speed internet in the rooms. I assure you, though, those are the smallest issues with this hotel.

As a side note, I did report our experience to HOTWIRE, we did not stay at the motel & had to find alternative accomodations for the night. I don't think we'll use hotwire again. :-(

Sorry to hear the hotel wasn't up to your standards. HOTWIRE defines the Hi-Speed Internet access icon as:

Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.
So if the rooms didn't offer hi-speed internet access that alone should be the basis for a refund from HOTWIRE and i would contact them to see if you can get a refund on this ground. In the future, if you have a problem with a hotel, you should try to resolve with first with the hotel (which it apepars you did) and then contact HOTWIRE while still at the property... this way they can discuss and verify with the hotel the issues and perhaps grant you a refund on the spot and/or find you acceptable accomodations.

I actually DID receive a refund for this stay...on the basis of the unsafe conditions found at the hotel. I did not even have to report the lack of high speed wireless.

And, as you mentioned, I called hotwire FROM the hotel to resolve the issue. I will say that the only positive of the experience, and the only reason I would consider using HOTWIRE again would be the kind and proactive CSR who handled my call. He was very helpful and did not hesitate to issue the refund, I didn't even have to ask, actually! I just reported our issues (which were major) and he immeadiately began the steps to issue the refund.

If I do use HOTWIRE again, I will be glad to use the link from the site. Thanks for the service you provide.
