dleibas Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Hi,I am looking for something close to Sea World and it looks like resorts are the norm for this zone (WEST I believe).Since I am a completely newby with priceline, my main concern is that I need 2 rooms, technically, one with 2 people (1 adult + 1 child) and one with 5 (2 adults + 1 child + 2 babies), I am pretty sure I will have to spin this off as 2 rooms one with 4 people (2 adults + 2 babies) and one with 3 (1 adults + 2 children). Can someone confirm or recommend a strategy for this? We would most likely take our own pack&plays to avoid any 'unexpected' charges for extra beds. Thanks & Regards
thereuare Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. You could receive rooms with only one bed and the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to switch you to a room with two beds.If you're not willing to take this risk HOTWIRE may be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy per room.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dleibas Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 Hi,Thanks for the reply.Double occupancy would be ok I believe, I can always throw an aerobed into the trunk :-) and since the extra heads are mostly babies or childrens under 7 I would expect (and hope) that it wont be an issue.I am open to any number of options, HOTWIRE too, the key here being saving from the retail costs you traditionally get on any number of travel sites.Regards,Damian
thereuare Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 So i would start by searching HOTWIRE to see what is offered. For an properties of interest (meeting your zone, star rating, and price requirements) compare the details of the offer to what is the Hotwire Hotel List to see if you can identify them... we can confirm what you think you're seeing or help with any hotels that have net been identified. From there you can decide how much of a discount the HOTWIRE offer represents and how much you like the property guessed... then make a decision if you'd like to go for that one OR try PRICELINE (where the price will likely be a little cheaper but you won't have the ability to take an educated guess as to what you'll likely be receiving beforehand)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. dleibas Posted July 11, 2009 Author Report Posted July 11, 2009 Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.I checked Hotwire and then went to Priceline (using the links above) I am happy to report that we got 2 rooms @ Hilton San Antonio Hill Country Hotel & Spa from 7/27 to 7/29 for $50 per room per night on the first bid attempt. At these rates even the resort surcharge is not that big of a deal. Thanks Damian
AaronJB Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad you are pleased with the results.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
