BeritOlam Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 I used the PRICELINE link for bidding on this hotel. First bid was $100 (per suggestion over here), accepted. Makes me think I could have even started lower, possibly due to the fact that 9/7 stars the post-Labor Day season....and hence not the summer rush.If you go to the Loews website, the lowest room is listed at $180 (at 10% discount rate). Pretty significant savings, if you're asking me. Business must be down quite a bit, if they are knocking almost 50% off the price. Here's the nitty-gritty:Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $100.00Subtotal: $300.00Taxes & Service Fees: $49.89Total Charges*: $349.89This definitely seems to be the preferred way to get a killer deal on Coronado, Island. I live in the SD area, and Coronado is a lovely place. [This purchase is for my parents who are visiting!] Secluded from the mainland....and yet not very far away from the Downtown area. If you're looking for an overnight 'quickie' in the SD area, OR don't want the hustle and bustle of the Harbor/Downtown area, this is a very nice compromise.I'm personally curious what the 3 1/2 and 3 star options would have garnered. None listed here so far. There aren't that many hotels on the Island to being with. And I can't imagine them being bad. I wonder if it might be the Glorietta Bay Inn or the Best Western Suites Inn. Glorietta is a better location, but either would be a decent value for $60-$70.
