57spring Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I have been trying to book two 4* rooms in Montreal from July 30-Aug 3. I started bidding at $60 and increased in increments of $5. I have gone up to $90 a night with no luck. Thanks!
yellowdog Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding :) To help you with a strategy we need you to post,1. The zone(s) you're willing to stay in2. Star level at hotel3. Your maximum budget for each star level if more than one.Yellowdog.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
57spring Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 Our preference would be in Old Montreal or Downtown. We would like 4* for no more than $100 and 3.5* for no more than $75. Thank you!
AaronJB Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I'm surprised that $90 wasn't accepted for a 4* on PRICELINE, as HOTWIRE is showing a 4* for these dates for $87. It's a 4* in the Downtown area with fitness, business, restaurant and internet, which could be a possible match for the Embassy Suites, Hilton or Sheraton, as all three have been reported with that amenity combination. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 If you change your HOTWIRE search to 2adults/2children a 4* hotel appears at $91 (your price may differ slightly) with Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business icons and a TA rating of 3.5/5.0 with 200+ reviews. This is a match for the Sheraton so that would be our best guess.Does this work for your needs or do you want to try bidding on PRICELINE? If you bid on PRICELINE are you comfortable with a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the Montreal zone? (there is no "old montreal" zone)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. 57spring Posted July 7, 2009 Author Report Posted July 7, 2009 I don't really like the Sheraton so I would like to try my luck on Priceline. I am open to any hotel in the Montreal zone. Thank you for your help.
thereuare Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Did you want to try for a 4* first up to $100 and then, if rejected, try for a 3.5* up to $75... OR did you want to try for a 3.5* or better up to $75 and then if rejected, raise your star rating to 4* and continue on to $100?Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Montreal...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Montreal and re-bid zone3...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Montreal and re-bid zone4...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100Any quesitonsl feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. 57spring Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 It's crazy but still no luck. I tried both yesterday and today. I will try again tomorrow. If it comes down to it, there is a great deal on Le Westin for $120 on Expedia. Thanks again for your help.
thereuare Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 If the Expedia deal is fully refundable i'd book that just to lock in that price... then if you're successful with PRICELINE you'll simply cancel the Expedia reservation; this would protect you from any unexpected price increases. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or our Le Westin link if you decide to go that route)Good luck and keep us updated. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
57spring Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 I just saw on Hotwire that there is a 4* with the following amenities for $88:-Fitness Center-Pool-Restaurant-Business Center-High Speed Internet. What would your guess be?I did book the refundable Expedia deal for Le Westin but I'm going to keep trying. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 The Omni, Hyatt and Hilton Bonaventure have been reported with those amenities.
