lumigirl Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Hi - I am new to this site...My family (of 4) are traveling to London and we have 3 days to spend there after visiting with family in the Kent/Ashford area. I was having a hard time finding an apartment I wanted and decided to give PRICELINE a try...definitely did not have beginner's luck! I ended with a 125 rate for 7/28 - 7/31 2009 at the Copthorne Tara Kensington, and after looking at other sites...I maybe saved anywhere from $3 - 25 dollars. Once we have the reservation, are we able to choose the type of room? Thanks - the first timer!
Romelle Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Priceline bidders are supposed to get a non-smoking room with capacity for two people. Bed arrangement might be a double or larger, or two twin beds. If you have a preference, you can ask the hotel. While they have no obligation, most try to help you if possible.Copthorne has floors 2-10 with "standard" rooms, and floors 11 and 12 with suites. They will most likely give you one of the standard rooms. It might be worth your while to read through the Copthorne reviews other members have posted on this site. Hotel Reviews tab, then get in the alpha listing and pick "E" for England. There is quite a lot of information about the immediate area of the hotel, and how to find it. Romelle
thereuare Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your results with the board. In addition to the information below, see the related links in our PRICELINE FAQ regarding room requests.Assuming you only bid for one room i would be a little concerned regaring quad occupancy in a standard European hotel room, so you may want to contact the hotel to see what type of room you have been assigned and if you're able to get a room with two beds.I'm not sure of the bidding strategy you used, but feel free to ask for help before bidding for your next hotel stay and perhaps we'll be able to get you results which have bigger savings and greater satisfaction.Priceline bidders are supposed to get a non-smoking room with capacity for two people.Just to clarify, PRICELINE bidders are not 'supposed' to get non-smoking rooms... PRICELINE states that they request this but ultimately it's based upon hotel availability. Current from PRICELINE at the time of posting:Priceline requests that our hotel partners provide non-smoking rooms to our Name Your Own Price customers; however, as is standard hotel industry practice, room assignments are based on hotel availability and are at a hotel's discretion. Some hotel properties may even be smoke-free. If you require a non-smoking room or a smoking room, you may contact your hotel directly. All special requests are based on availability and at the discretion of the hotel. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
