Anyone have any suggestions for finding a good deal in the Downtown or Ashley River areas of Charleston, SC for the weekend of 7/17 - 7/19? I see all of these great deal people are getting, but everytime I try to bid I get rejected.

So far I have tried:

Downtown:

3* - 80

3* - 90

Downtown + Ashley River:

3* - 80

3* - 95

I moved to a new thread because the last post I made related to Priceline, not Hotwire.....I'll keep it here though, no worries.

The best non-priceline or hotwire deal that I could find at an acceptable hotel (3* or higher) was ~$140.

I would like to stay below $100 for a 3* or higher in the Ashley River or Downtown areas. It appears that this is a reasonable goal as I've seen quite a few $60-$75 rates on the boards for these star levels and areas on weekends.

Keep in mind rates are date-specific; while other people may have gotten good deals for other dates, if there is something going on in the area on these dates, rates will be higher.

Given your one re-bid zone, and taking into account your previously rejected bids, as well as your maximum bid, i'd try as follows:

Select 3* Ashley River...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Downtown...

Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $85, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* Ashley River and Downtown...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100

Just won the Marriott Courtyard in the Ashley River area for $120. A little more than I wanted to spend, but I guess the weekend I wanted to go was a semi-popular one...

Started at $90 and alternated adding my re-bid zones, adding $5 at a time. Rejected until I got to $120.

I guess it's a decent deal. Orbitz is offering it at $208 and Marriott.com is $205.

One last question, does anyone know if I can get Marriott pts with a Priceline rate? That'd be nice.
