I live in the western suburbs of Chicago, just trying to create a little downtown time with the wife. Any bidding suggestions for a the NMA zone? Looking at a 2 night stay checking in 8/7 and checking out 8/9. Any tips on pricing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please don't crosspost in each forum, keep all posts for this stay in this thread. If you ultimately use PRICELINE we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board.

The "amenities" you've listed above describe criteria for a 4* rating by HOTWIRE, not the actual amenities that are offered by this property. If you re-run your HOTWIRE search, we're interested in the 'square, grey/white icons' that are shown inside each listing offered.

If on the otherhand you're first looking to try PRICELINE, let us know your maximum bid (minimum 4* rating??) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

This Boutique property has not yet been reported to the board. It was just asked about the other day in this Hotwire Chicago thread where i had guessed the Talbott. (you can see that thread for AaronJB's thoughts but i don't think the TA info was showing on his HOTWIRE search, giving him less info to make a guess)

Let us know how you'd like to proceed.

If this was the Talbott (and it does certainly seem like a possibility), it would be wonderful to see that hotel start showing up on the service, as it's a lovely little boutique (which I believe was recently renovated) on a side street near Michigan Ave. shopping.

Thanks for the input on the Talbot possibility. I will keep you posted should I select that one. I may try PRICELINE a few more days. Any pricing suggestions for a 2 night stay beginning on Aug 7th?

I was thinking a max bid of $140 - obviously lower would be better - I've already tried and been rejected upto $115 for both the 4* and 3.5* selections in NMA zone. Loop is great, just not want I wanted for this particular weekend.

I'm assuming that you want to try up to your limit for a 4* before trying for a 3.5*? (although that doesn't appear to be how you bid previoulsy since you have only gone up to $115 at both the 3.5* and 4* levels... don't follow the following if you're actually more interested in the least expensive 3.5* or better property rather than trying for a 4* up to your limit first)

At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

Select 4* NMA...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 4* NMA and re-bid zone4...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $140

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

No luck - I followed your advice exactly but it apparently wasn't a high enough bid. I know Lallapoolza is going on that weekend, but I figured it would have more of an impact on the Grant Park area hotels and not North Michigan.

I will try again tomorrow.

Just following up for you. I retried the whole process for both 4* and 3.5*. All bids up through 150 were rejected at both levels. That was already past my target. Thanks for your help though.

Yes - a hotel stay wasn't a must for this weekend, just looking for a deal on a 4* rather than commuting back to the suburbs. I've enjoyed this sight.
