samraj Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 We will be in NYC from 20 Aug - 26 Aug. It's mostly sightseeing & some shopping and looking to spend $150. MTC or MTE - which is closer to a sub way, which is better location and also for easy commuting? Thanks
thereuare Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! You posted this in the "Hotel Lists and Tips" section of the board, so not sure if you are intending on using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE (we'll move the thread once you reply)First issue you'll need to contend with is that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, which means you could receive a room with only one bed and little/no room for a rollaway (yes, some NYC hotel rooms are that small... but some people choose to take the risk, although in NYC i don't necessarily recommend it). HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensures sleeping accomodations for everyone in your search, as well as gives you the ability to take an edcuated guess as to the hotel being offered beforehand based upon the amenities shown, but the downside is that it's usually a little more expensive than PRICELINE.Based upon the above, which service do you want to use? What star rating are you seeking?Let us know the above and we'll be in a better position to answer your other questions. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. samraj Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 Thanks! Based on your advise, I'll be looking in Hotwire and 3 star and above.
samraj Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 As per location reviews MTE is best, the one I was watching on Hotwire is gone! There is one available in MTC which is good price - should I go for it? Is it too early to book for 20 Aug? Thanks. Appreciate reply ASAP if I should just get it...

AaronJB Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 What are the amenities showing with the MTC property?
samraj Posted July 8, 2009 Author Report Posted July 8, 2009 Smoke FreeFitness CentreRestaurantBusiness Centre
AaronJB Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 That would appear to be a match for the Sheraton. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 I'm not seeing a MTC property with the amenities above, I am seeing:3.5* MTC with Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Interent, BusinessIs this what you're seeing? samraj Posted July 9, 2009 Author Report Posted July 9, 2009 Guys, can you advise if I'm looking to buy-in too early?! Should I wait for better prices and hotels to buy 3 weeks before I check-in? Currently the price is good and location is acceptable.. Thanks
AaronJB Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 There's no way to know for sure whether or not prices will drop between now and then. Waiting is absolutely placing a bet that prices will drop, and while prices may fall, there is also definitely a chance (especially if something is going on these dates or general traffic ramps up) that prices could also go the other way. It's upside/downside potential - not sure how much the price could fall from $129, but if traffic ramps up, there's a lot of room above that price.
thereuare Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 While this is typically a slow time in NYC, i'll also add that you're searching for triple occupancy, which many hotel rooms in NYC can't accomodate, and therefore the number of hotels that load rates into the system for more than double occupancy is limited. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide to do or if we can be of further help.
