Have you looked up any of the hotel actual rates yet? That can sometimes help you figure things out. If the rates are so high your bid is less than 50%, then you probably just aren't bidding enough yet.

Also, you might take a look at the PRICELINE retail (direct buy) side to see what those rates look like.

La Messena is 4* and has a rate of 138/night. I would be really upset if I bid 115 and got a retail price listed hotel like La Messena for 138. Other rates continue at 200, 256, 267.

Of course another consideration is that the hotels haven't released rooms to PRICELINE yet for a little over two months out. I can't speak for Nice, but some cities are sort of notorious for only having good deals in the last few days. New York seems to be one of those.

If this property participates with the "name your own price" side of PRICELINE then receiving this hotel would be a definate possibility, which is why it's important to check rates before you bid.

You may either have to take the chance that you'll receive this hotel, bid lower than you have been so that if you receive this property it's still considered a good deal, or book thru altnerate means (HOTWIRE or a traditional booking)
