travelin man Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 My search criteria:Thu, Jul 30 to Sun, Aug 2Chicago, IL - 2 rooms, 3 nights, 6 adults They offer a 3* for $93 with the following amenities: fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, internetMy best guess is the Hilton Garden Inn, what do you guys think? I would rather priceline to get a lower rate, but I want to feel pretty assured that I will get 2 beds in each room. Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza so that would be my best guess. Two points:1) for an extra $15/nite why not go for the 4.5* in the zone for $109/nite with Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, and Business and a TA rating of 4.0/5.0. This is a BIG jump in star rating and the reviews are great. If there are 2-3-4 of you per room, you're looking at an extra $5-10 per nite per person which would seem to be worth it, imo, for the great reviews and jump in star quality2) search for 6adults/2children as this ensures each room has two beds... searching only for 6adults/0children could potentially end up with one room for quad occupancy (2 beds) and one room for double occupancy (one bed). In such a situation i'd think you could call HOTWIRE and have them try to resolve the situation, but since the price is the same whether searching 6adults/0children or 6adults/2children, why take the chance? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. travelin man Posted July 2, 2009 Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 Thank you for the response, and the valuable information. I'm not a fan of the location of the Holiday Inn, so I will pass on this opportunity. Also, I will pass on the Intercontinental as well. The location of this hotel is perfect, but I have a "backup" reservation at the Springhill suites for the same price. I will keep this reservation unless I can find a good hotel/location that will save me some money. I will continue to monitor, and may ask questions in the future. This is a great site!
