Jesena Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Started bidding at $55 Downtown (4*, 3.5* and 3*) and went up to $75, all denied. Tried several other areas including Lake Oswego, Airport and Downtown-Convention Center, also everything denied up to $75. Finally included Gresham and Jantzen Beach, started at $55 again and got accepted at $55.Wanted to stay downtown but couldn't afford to go over $75, I guess this is a busy weekend. Took my quite a while to get a room after all. :) Does anyone know this hotel? There are no information on the site here and tripadvisor has old reviews? :)

tilepusher Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 I've never stayed in Gresham before, so I'm afraid that I can't comment on this hotel.I can't emphasize enough how important it is to check hotel rates before you start bidding. I did a search on Kayak and found the following rates:Downtown Portland3* Courtyard City Center: $993.5* Marriott City Center: $1194* Benson: $1294* The Nines: $1394* Hotel deLuxe: $139Convention Center3* Doubletree Lloyd Center: $723* Red Lion Convention Center: $983* Courtyard Lloyd Center: $99Airport3* Radisson: $533* Red Lion: $763* Holiday Inn: $79Lake Oswego - Tigard3.5* Crowne Plaza: $833* Hilton Garden Inn: $893* Residence Inn Portland South: $99Hotwire also has a 3.5* hotel in Lake Oswego for $54 (Crowne Plaza) and a 3* hotel in Portland Airport for $48 (Holiday Inn). So, in fact, this is not a busy weekend. It's very likely that was a glitch at Priceline's end when you started bidding, and they weren't able to access the inventory at many of the hotels. The fact that you were being rejected at the Airport (where hotel rooms are very cheap on weekends) was definitely a tip-off that something was wrong.
