Ayrshire Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Hi all,First post so apologies if I get this wrong.Stayed at Hyatt Grand Cypress last year via priceline (
audiTT Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Caribe Royale Resorts Suites and Villas. Should be a solid property with ample space, though not quite as luxurious than the Hyatt Grand Cypress (if that's the Hyatt you were referring to). Hotwire has recently upgraded this property to 4* from 3.5, but TripAdvisor and other sites classify it as a 3* (though from traveler pictures, it looks like 3.5* or 4* is legitimate). It appears that most rooms have received a recent refreshing with flat-screen TVs, updated soft amenities, etc. Honestly, it reminds me of a cross between an Embassy Suites and a full-service resort, which is definitely not a bad thing. More or less, you're probably giving up some of the luxury of the Hyatt Grand Cypress for the space of a suite, while still maintaining all the trappings of a full-service resort. Good luck!
thereuare Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Generally speaking the reviews for this property are very good.Whether you want to split your purchase depends upon how you feel about this property, the value for the price offered, and how much of an inconvenience you feel changing properties will be. If you were to split, what would be your objective in doing so... a lower price? a specific/different hotel? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Ayrshire Posted June 29, 2009 Author Report Posted June 29, 2009 Hi again,Thanks for the replies. I've had a read of tripadvisor and it does get some good reports but looks like it'd be a taxi out at night to have dinner/drinks etc. Not a huge hassle as we did that when staying at the Grand Cypress (which is undergoing some refurb work from what I've since read) although the ale house place etc was walking distance. Might just go for it and try somewhere different. The reason I was asking about the split was to possibly secure better rates .... although the risk is not getting the same hotel and having to move.... probably not worth the hassle to save a few bucks. Maybe there is no preference to rates for 3-4 days versus 10-12 ...... I notice lots of 'wins' are for a few days rather than 10-14 nights but I guess it's just the nature of trips rather than the rates. Hope that makes sense. Will have another look through PRICELINE options for something within walking distance of downtown disney and have the Caribe Royale via HOTWIRE as my back up.Any other info, pointers or feedback is much appreciated.Regards,Craig.
Ayrshire Posted August 4, 2009 Author Report Posted August 4, 2009 Just wanted to share a winning bid so it might help someone.Bidding for a resort (won Hyatt Grand Cypress last year which is handy if you want to walk off property for dinner/drinks etc) and trying to get close to Downtown Disney area. Started bidding at $60 (used the PRICELINE link from this site and managed to 'fit' the UK address in using New York etc and 99999 zip code). The $60 didn't win so I increased it to $65, then $70 and won at $75 - all the time adding areas that didn't have a resort. Ok the Omni isn't as close to downtown disney as I'd have liked but can't be unhappy with a resort at that sort of price (think the rack rate is $200+). Hopefully the shuttle bus can drop us close to downtown and get a taxi back :-)So it's Omni Resort at Champions Gate at $75 per night - staying 10 nights Wed 16/09/09 until Sat 26/09/09. Need to go see what facilities they have :) Happy Bidding.Craig
