Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (MTW) Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers

Bid Priceline through Better Bidding.

Bid was for Midtown West for 1 Night (M, 6/29)

Opening bid $123 and got it without any other attempts.

Was offered to extend my stay, which I did, for $123 for the second night (T, 6/30)

My logic was this...

NYC being a larger city, there are multiple possible hotels in each level/area, so it's harder to predict which hotel.

I really wanted the Sheraton New York (not the Manhattan) and/or the Hilton.

I did not want The Warwick...which was a recent winning 4*-MTW for 6/30-7/2.

There were high odds I'd get the Sheraton, but I wanted to keep my options open.

So, I bid first for the 1st night of my 2 night trip.

That way, if I did not like the hotel awarded, I could always pursue another angle for the 2nd night...since I was willing to move.

Don't know if Priceline always offers the "extend your stay" option...but it's worked for me several times recently.

And, I saved over $270 on my hotel bill...more money for some real NY Pizza and cheesecake!

The "extend your stay" option is not always offered, and even when it is, it doesn't guarnatee success (as PRICELINE doesn't know if you're looking to add nites to the beginning or end of your stay nor how many nites you'd be looking to stay). When you try to extend you'll either get the additional room(s), be turned down, or told that a room is available but only at a higher rate (at which point you'll be given the option to accept/reject the higher priced offer)
