MSUGirl Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 I really want to stay at the Hill Country Hyatt Resort and Spa, so is it worth it to try priceline since I cannot pick the hotel? I am wondering if I bid a bit higher if it will increase my chance of getting this hotel? I am worried I will get the Hilton instead since it seems many have gotten this resort after bidding. Anyone have any experience?
AaronJB Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Welcome to the site. There's no way to ensure getting a particular hotel using PRICELINE, even if you bid higher (that will most likely result in spending more than you had to for the hotel you would have gotten for less anyways.)Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links. If you want to book this Hyatt regular rate, deal0hotel is a coupon code that should work for 10% off on Orbitz. If you go this route, please use the site's Orbitz.com link.

Anyone have any experience?I'm looking for nearly same dates (jul 12-15) and same hotel, but I'm willing to take Hilton hill country.I bid this morning for San Antonio (West) - Resort, bid started at $60, increased to $100, bid still failed. Will try again in the morning. FYI... Hilton Hill Country has 3rd night free on Hilton.com, under "Summer Sale". This makes the cost around $100 per night. Will use this as last option if bid fails tomorrow morning again.Let me know how you do.

MSUGirl Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 Digimac-Let me know if you try again today what you get.I am still debating my options..........
MSUGirl Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 So if Priceline does not accept my first bid, what should I change to ensure I still get a resort near seaworld?
MSUGirl Posted June 28, 2009 Author Report Posted June 28, 2009 So I am trying for the Hill Country Hyatt Resort (West) and had a hotel come up for $156/nt for July 5-7. I am debating whether to use priceline and get a better deal, but am worried this could also be the Hilton Resort. Seems I have a 50/50 chance whether I use Hotwire or Priceline since there are 2 resorts in this area.Since this is a bit higher than the Hilton prices, should I assume it is indeed the Hyatt? It comes up Seaworld - Hill Country Area 4 starIf it shows up in Hotwire, does that increase my chances it will show up on Priceline?
AaronJB Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 What are the amenities showing with this property? I definitely would not assume that it is the Hyatt. If a hotel is showing on HOTWIRE, that does not mean it will potentially come up on PRICELINE. There is no way to guarantee or improve your odds on getting a particular property via PRICELINE, as flexibility in where you stay is the trade-off for discounted rates. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
Digimack Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Tried again with Priceline this evening, bid $125 for San Antonio (West) - Resort, still no luck, bid not accepted. I went ahead and booked directly with Hilton using the Hilton Link posted by AaronJB. Got a Suite at $219 per night, with 3rd night free, comes out to $146 a night. Figure I could've upped my bid on PRICELINE, but it would be for a regular room, might as well get the bigger room. Good luck.

MSUGirl Posted June 29, 2009 Author Report Posted June 29, 2009 Well, I took a chance on PRICELINE and bid $61 and ended up with the Hilton. Not real happy, but that is the chance you take. I went ahead and booked directly with the Hyatt for my second night, so we will get to check out both hotels. Although it didn't work out too well this time, I certainly will use the site next time I book another hotel.
thereuare Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Sorry to hear you didn't receive the hotel you were hoping for... perhaps, at least for the price paid, you feel you received a good deal. (as i imagine the Hyatt probably cost you nearly twice as much!)Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay(s).
