Sharyn in Atlanta Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Hi - what a great site, I've spent a lot of time here and gotten great advice already, thanks. I am going to NYC for one nite, 7/2/09 - next thursday. I want to bid for MTE and 4 stars. Any idea what would be a good winning bid? Hotwire has a 4.5 star for $150, based on reading here, I'm thinking the Benjamin. Any strategy for getting this lower? Or something comparable? Thanks in advance and apologies if I am making any mistakes on my query.
Sharyn in Atlanta Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 I'm replying to my own post! I'm about to go on PRICELINE thru your link, was thinking of bidding $110 for 4 star MTE, one nite, since it's next week. My anxiety is that i want to bid high enough that I get a nice hotel - not the hyatt, been there, it's so so, but I wouldn't say 4 star - but obviously want the best deal. Thoughts??
Sharyn in Atlanta Posted June 25, 2009 Author Report Posted June 25, 2009 Here I am again. I couldn't wait, was getting anxious. And sure enough, I bid $120, MTE, and wound up with . . . The Grand Hyatt. I think the better deals are in CPS, but I have to be on East Side, going to visit a friend at Memorial Sloan Kettering, so being by the right train was most important. And it is a good location. First bid - now of course I'm irritated, think I could have bid lower. AaronJB Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Thank you for sharing your results with the board. This is an absolutely terrific deal for this property; it's rare that it's seen much lower ($115, $110 lowest) during the Summer. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
