Taiko
I was looking for rates closer to $10 for economy class. Historically current prices are high. There is a thread at FT about how much prices have increased this year. All connected with the reported (by some) upturn of business in LAS.I was about to book on HOTWIRE then I read this:July is the start of a new pricing/promotion period. Generally, LAS prices wont drop until a couple weeks into JulyI was surprised PL rejected all of my bids over 4 days.I started at $13 for Economy and toggled between economy and compact up to $16, and hitting a max of $20 for mid size.So I thought I would monitor prices for a couple of weeks and see what happens in early July.I'll update with rate data. thereuare
Where did you read this info:July is the start of a new pricing/promotion period. Generally, LAS prices wont drop until a couple weeks into JulyAre they refering to HOTWIRE rates in particular or rental rates in general? There is a 28K person shoe conference in Vegas during your stay, and while more moderate than HUGE for Vegas, it could certainly be effecting rental rates for dates. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Taiko
I read it here. They are referring to rates in general and is not HW or PL specific.Vegas Car rental threadPosted by a LV resident I believe.A shoe conference - I'll find out what the preferred Hotel is. Bet its Bally, Luxor, Paris, or Monte Carlo. You wouldn't think the shoe guys would be renting cars. Link to comment
thereuare
There was one comment there regarding Alamo dropping rates 2-3 weeks before the rental period and a half dozen regarding capacity and demand issues... just like hotels nobody can say if rates will go up or down between now and your stay, but i think you're going to be looking at rates higher than you expect.Just like other business travelers, "shoe guys" are on expense accounts and rent cars when traveling to Vegas on business, whether they'll likely need the car or not.You could choose to wait it out and see what happens, but i'd recommend booking a cancellable back-up to protect yourself from rates rising even further. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Taiko
Cancellable back up is a good idea. You wouldn't think conference attendees would be renting many cars as they are in Vegas mainly for business. But who knows Link to comment

Taiko
Update: Hotwire increased rates on July 1st for my dates.I was able to book a cancellable back up for less than HW, direct with Alamo. The Alamo booking has now gone down by $22.00But Hotwire has increased (again) by approx $1.00 per day.(I am using codes etc on Alamo. If no codes used then HW would be better) Link to comment
