azzomum Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 There is a 3 1/2 star and a 2 star hotel rating for our price range both in downtown Memphis. I was hoping to get the Comfort Inn near Mud Island. Beacuse we are bringing out mothers along with our own family of 5 we can just hop downstairs at anytime in the morning to have the Cont. breakfast. We want to eat and run not sit around for hours in a restaurant. Here is the info. TIA! AaronJB Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)The 3.5* would be the Crowne Plaza, while the 2* has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board. Neither hotel has a free breakfast icon, so neither of these listings would offer it.Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
azzomum Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 I went through this website and clinked on the HOTWIRE link, also gave me Expedia and priceline.I got another rate for this 3 1/2 * hotel at $77Before I booked I opened a new window on my browser and checked the price again as I noticed from last night the price dropped to $77 from $90 something. Then when I changed the entry info. as I need two rooms the price jumped again. Why is it more expensive to book 2 rooms? If I book one room at the $77 rate can I go back and book another room at the same price? Maybe under my name or my Mum's?TIA.Azzomum
thereuare Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. There are a few possible reasons for the price differences you're seeing:-HOTWIRE uses a variable mark-up, so this can create some price fluctuation from search to search-the hotel may only have one room offered at a $77 and a second room offered at a higher rate (say $103).. so when you search for one room you see the $77 rate, but when searching for two rooms you see the average price of the two rooms ($90/nite)-it's also possible that only one room is offered by this property, so when searching for two rooms an entirely different hotel is being offeredThere is no problem purchasing two rooms in separate transacation under the same name, but the issue in doing so is what if you purchase one hotel room at $77, and then when you go to purchase the second room the same hotel is no longer offered? (or offered an an extrodinarly high rate)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. azzomum Posted June 29, 2009 Author Report Posted June 29, 2009 Thanks for all your help and I will know next time to keep topics in the same thread. We ended up at the Crowne Plaza, this was the 3 1/2* hotel.I have another question...................What is the time line when booking a hotel? We have not booked a hotel for our first night driving as we have a 15 hour drive, we think it might be better to see how far we can go. Could we stop somewhere, use the internet and book via hotwire, then check in 2 hours later?I have to say this website is great and I will use it again, thanks for all you help.Azzomum
