DuskoV Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Hilton property, next to the Del Mar race track. Bid was $55, what brought it to ~ $70 with taxes and feesDates: 06/24/09 - 06/25-09And don't forget, there is ridiculous $15 parking fee for this property, that is NOT included in price.Used PRICELINE on this web site, of course!I have been using Priceline for some time. Recently I noticed that hotels (particulary in San Diego) started to "play bad" with you. They started to charge "parking fee", which is not calculated in your final price. For Example1) DoubleTree in Del Mar does NOT charge for parking2) Hilton Del Mar charges $15 parking3) Paradise Point (San Diego) charges $20 parking.Just be aware that you will need to pay this as an addition to your bidding price.
AaronJB Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Congratulations on your success. :)More and more hotels are charging for parking in major cities, and some in other cities are charging as much as $50 a night. Parking is never added into the cost on PRICELINE, as there would be no way for the service to do so, given that you don't know what hotel you may get when bidding.Thank you for reporting your win and using the site's PRICELINE link to start your purchase.Enjoy your stay.
DuskoV Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 Yeah. I guess they should do something about this. Either negotiate lower fees, allow you to select different properties that match your price (so you can decide how much you want to pay for this), or something else. Otherwise, I'm sure that for some people it doesn't mean anything to pay more for parking fee then for room, but for the others, it does.In my case, they charged 30% of the nightly rate for the parking fee. Cool!
