fannish Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 I'm cruising out of Port Everglades on November 3, and am looking for a pre-cruise hotel room for November 2. There will be 3 adults in the room - my senior citizen parents and myself.I've referred to the pinned Priceline and Hotwire hotel list for Fort Lauderdale downtown. I'm familiar with both Embassy Suites and Hyatt Place, both 3* , and would love either one. Riverside Hotel is the other 3* in this region - the tower rooms at this hotel are reported to be great, the regular ones...not so much. I'm a bit concerned if we go up to a 4*, we will get a room with only a king bed. I'm a newbie at this, and I don't want to make any stupid mistakes in bidding. Should I wait until closer to the time of my cruise to bid? I have limited experience with Priceline, but ZERO experience with Hotwire. Should I consider Hotwire to zero in on Embassy Suites with the "S" amenity?Any other tips? Median price for a 3* is stated by Priceline as $170.
thereuare Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 As far as "bid now or wait" see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Whether you use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE depends upon what you want from this stay and your comfort level booking one room for three people thru PRICELINE.... priceline only guarantees double occupancy so it's possible that you receive a hotel with only one bed, and the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to switch you to a room with two beds. HOTWIRE does allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and guarnatees sleeping accomodations for everyone you include in your search.PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, but you're subject to receiving any hotel in the zone at the minimum star level (or higher) that you select... HOTWIRE is usually a little more expensive, but you can take an educated guess as to what you may likely receive before your purchase. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know when, and how, you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
